Biomedical Simulation: the key to innovative and competitive future Medical Device Design
European Expert Network meets Ireland's Medical Device Industry at NUI Galway
On 9th July, over 40 senior executives of Ireland’s Medical Device industry met with the @neurIST Project Board representing some of Europe’s leading biomedical engineers, biologists, neurosurgeons and computer scientists, to hear and discuss how Computer Imaging and Simulation will revolutionise the future of biomedical device design.
Among the highlights of the evening were two stunning visionary presentations:
“The Virtual Physiological Human” by Dr. Alejandro Frangi,
the @neurIST Project’s Scientific Coordinator, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain
“Biomedical Simulation for Industry and the Clinic” Advances in Simulation of Orthopaedic and Vascular Devices by Dr. Rod Hose, the @neurIST Project's Responsible for Complex Information Processing
The Networking Evening was hosted by Enterprise Ireland, IDAC Ireland (the Irish @neurIST Partner) and the IMDA at NUI Galway. The Event underlined Ireland’s status as a hub for biotechnology while it emphasised the need to invest in state-of-the-art simulation technologies to maintain a high level of expertise and Ireland's leading position in the global medical device world.
